The Great Acting Blog: “Excuses, Excuses”

When faced with a challenge (ie – a task which creates a fear of failure), it’s easy to shy away, telling yourself that you don’t possess the necessary qualities to do the thing –  I’m not this, I’m not that. Alternatively, the challenge can be continually deferred by your efforts to obtain the necessary qualities, a process which keeps going to the extent that nothing else gets done – self-improvement as procrastination.

It’s all just excuses.

Start work on the challenge and find out if you have the necessary qualities. If you come up short, then make changes on the hoof, or ensure you improve for next time. But go and do the thing in the first place.
