The Great Acting Blog: “Undedicated Actors Are Frightened”
If you’re like me, you may occasionally come across people who pride themselves on having no acting skills whatsoever, and yet put themselves up for acting work. They love the fact that they put so little effort into it, and believe that the dedicated are fools wasting their time. However, this lack of dedication, is in fact  a fear of dedication, a fear of giving. The undedicated have come only to take advantage and so they assume everyone else is doing likewise – they want to grab as much as they can whilst offering as little of themselves as possible.
It’s destructive to think that everyone is rapacious, just as it’s naive to believe that everyone acts honourably all of the time. It’s important to discern, and focus our efforts towards those we trust. When we do this, our generosity knows no bounds because we are confident about the destination toward which we send it. This is especially true when we work for ourselves.
