The Great Acting Blog: “Think About The People Who Make You Strong”
How can we refine our thinking about our work in such a way that it inspires us to take action? Afterall, our thinking needs to be in good order because what we think eventually becomes what we do.
Make a list of people who you would like to work with, and observe how each one impacts you.
We might find that some people, even though we admire them, create frustration, or rob us of our strength. Who knows why? Perhaps they’re not accessible to us or we don’t see them coming into our orbit any time soon. Or perhaps our specialty doesn’t match theirs, or there could a cultural problem, or maybe we realise we don’t really want to work with them after all, it was an old opinion that needed revising. Then there are the others on the list; those that energise us, inspire us, the barriers in our mind vanish. Keep these people on your list and take steps to work with them. Delete the others.
It is a question of where we put our focus.
Think about the people who make you strong. And keep on thinking about them.
