The Great Acting Blog: “Rebooting Your Connection To Your Work”
Sometimes we become jaded with our work. We seem to lose our drive, our hunger, our energy, our focus. There doesn’t seem to be any specific problem, it’s more a general disposition, a mindset and a feeling. Our inspiration for starting down the path of the artist, can fade as we get busy with the crush of daily living. It is during these times that we need to reboot our connection to our work.
Rebooting is about finding new, specific challenges within our work, challenges which capture our imagination, get our blood up and give us a new lease of life. Finding the right challenge, involves seeking out new ideas and exploring each of them until we find the one that speaks clearly to us, the one that unlocks our inner passion. The danger of not doing this rebooting, of just carrying on with the same-old-same-old, is that we stagnate permanently, we fall out of love with our work. And that’s a tragedy, there’s little worse than seeing an actor just go through the motions, playing without any interest – it’s somehow a betrayal of all that acting is meant to be.
Keep the fires burning by rebooting your connection to your work.
