If you’re pursuing worthwhile goals, then they’re probably difficult, they’re probably taking you out of your comfort zone, and they may cause you to stumble and fail occasionally.
It’s okay to lose the occasional battle, what is important though is that you eventually win the war. That means not seeing your failures as evidence that you should quit but as opportunities to learn lessons which can be carried forward, into the next battle, making you stronger and more effective.
Everything is an opportunity to learn: every bad performance, every disappointing meeting, every time the phone does’t ring, every project that falls apart, it’s all an opportunity to learn. Make the effort and take those opportunities, then you’ll be stronger to last over the long term, you’ll enjoy the challenges of the actor’s life more, and those occasional defeats won’t befuddle you in the way that they might.
