The Great Acting Blog: “Discover The Right Path By Taking Action”
When we find the right course of action, the one that feels true to us, we become fully activated, inner tensions and ambivalences vanish. We feel solid and organised, excited, optimistic and generous. We can’t wait to get to work, carried along by momentum. The challenge thrills us. Other projects however, may seem right on a rational level, they may tick our boxes, but something within us just doesn’t click into place, we can’t settle, our spirit just isn’t aroused, we’re not compelled to proceed.
The lesson here is that we can think and think and think, trying to find the right objective, the right path, but thinking will get us only so far. We need to take action, we need to just do stuff, because we so often find the way tangentially, that is, by doing something (e.g.- research) we may stumble upon a vaguely connected piece of information or person which supplies us with our euphoric insight – the new path opens up for us, and when it does, it’ll probably be something we never thought of, but seem obvious at the same time.
Of course, this approach requires us to take action without the guarantee of a reward.
