The Great Acting Blog: “Bringing Your Film To The World Just Got Easier”

As I’ve said before, it’s never been easier to for us actors to control our own work, it’s never been easier for us to decide when we work and what sort of work we do. After all, it’s now possible to make a world class feature film on a desktop computer.

But what to do with the film once it’s been made? How to get it to an audience?

I discovered a terrific new platform recently, called VHX, which enables you to offer the film for streaming or download. Here are the basics….

 

• sign-up for VHX and claim a domain name.
• simply upload your film.
• create a package in VHX (very easy to do), which will then be available on your VHX site.
• you can also embed VHX on your own website and make your film available there.
• VHX take 10% of all sales + 50 cents, but there are no start-up costs.

 

There you have it. Another barrier to having control of your art and your career has been removed.

As regularly stated on The Great Acting Blog, sound creative technique allied with the ability to think correctly under pressure and self-awareness, ensures our continual growth as artists, and therefore ever greater accomplishment. That’s the trajectory that helps us gain the strength to go our own way, pursuing our own vision, rather than shuffling around in auditions hoping to be picked.  The point is, bringing that vision to an audience just got a whole lot easier.
