The Great Acting Blog: “Always Remember The Magic”
“I was not intrigued with the accouterments of success and fame, the furs, jewels, expensive automobiles and mansions… I can assure you that these things were not on my mind when I sat spellbound in that Pozzuoli movie house. It was what these performers on the screen were doing, not what they received for doing it.”  – Sophia Loren
Yesterday, the magnificant Sophia Loren turned 80. Her words remind us how important those images of the actors and movies and plays that we first fell in love with are, the ones that originally inspired us to become actors. In the maelstrom of day-to-day striving, when we all too rarely get what we want, when we all too often seem to be wrestling with questions that have nothing to do with our art, it’s all too easy for us to lose our passion, to become jaded, to no longer find the will to reach for the extraordinary. Those images in our memory however, the ones like Loren’s Pozzuoli movie house, fan the flames of our passion and offer a simple reminder of what we set out to achieve originally, namely: to create for others the same magical effect we ourselves experienced.
