Noirish Project Blog: “Detrashified”

With Noirish Project, I wanted to get away from impressive, domineering cinema, which exists merely as a showcase for itself, and sees the audience as simply an appendage to the career’s of the filmmakers. Noirish Project offers no loud emotionalism nor any of the ultra-realistic-extreme-violence so prevalent in today’s cinema, where filmmakers force the viewer to experience something, anything, because anything is better than nothing, no matter how tawdry and false and manipulative. Nor will you find any cod politics in our film, the sort that seeks to control what the audience thinks. Putting politics into art is like putting poison into drinking water. Noirish Project tries to avoid trash.

Noirish Project is about getting rid of the guff. It invites the audience to gaze at the world before them, to notice it, and, to a certain extent, it lets each individual viewer interpret the action for themselves as oppose to imposing a template point-of-view upon them. The film seeks to wipe away the noise and the flashing lights and the spinning-the-camera-round in  circles, and instead offers an altogether quieter, truer experience.
