The Great Acting Blog: “Don’t Wait For Permission”

Always strange when actors who are out of work say they’re writing scripts in order to stay busy. Nobody gave them permission to write scripts but they do so anyway. Yet, when it comes to acting they feel that they need to wait to be given permission before they can do it (the very mindset which caused of their unemployment in the first place).

You don’t need to be given permission in order to do your work.

Painters don’t wait for permission before they paint.

Writers don’t wait for permission before they write.

Muscians don’t wait for permission before they make music.

Why should actors wait around until someone gives them permission to act?

It’s your art, it’s up to you to decide what to do with it.
