Distracted’s Screening Series Crowdfunding Campaign Is Live

Distracted’s Screening Series Crowdfunding Campaign Is Live

If you cannot find the cinema culture you want to see and participate in, then you’ve got to create that culture yourself. This has been the driving idea behind all that I do in acting and filmmaking.

I completed my feature film, Distracted, earlier in 2018, after 18 months labour of love. I sent the film to my backers and to colleagues in my filmmaking community, and received an wonderful response – all that I had hoped for and more. Now I want to take the film beyond my immediate community and send it out into the world; showing it theatrically, on the big screen, where it can be given it’s full expression.

I have secured screenings in London, Berlin, Dublin and Helsinki and am working to find more. The plan is to present the film and participate in live Q&As with the audience – it’s a formula I used for my previous feature film and it proved to be very successful. Funds raised in this campaign will help towards the cost of venue hire, expenses and promotional materials.

And so, I invite you to become a backer of this project, help make these screenings happen, and so create that cinema culture; an artistic cinema, a cinema which unites us and cares for us, and enables us to share those things we know to be true.

About Distracted

A detective story, Distracted uses ironic comedy-drama to undermine the conventions of the genre in order to explore the absurdity of one man’s state of being.

Detective Henry Baker is assigned to a murder which he has no interest in solving. He’s quitting the force in a few days and wants to see out his time as painlessly as possible. His plan his thwarted, however, when he is given a new partner, Derek Mountjoy, a man desperate for promotion because otherwise his wife will leave him.

What They’ve Been Saying

“Delightful and entertaining”

“Genius!”

“Sublime, it really stays with you”

“A dark comedy of absurdities”

“Extraordinary flick”

I would be grateful if you could visit the campaign page, where you will find a full description of the project, and consider becoming a backer. I’ve put up rewards for supporters too, including Distracted. Check-out the campaign here.

Many thanks,
James
